Maghera U'15 XI vs Killyclooney U'15 XI

Thursday 28/5/26 - The Rainey

Winning the toss, Maghera elected to bat first with just 10 players available. Rory and Luke opened the innings, starting steadily and rotating the strike effectively, with Luke finding the boundary a few times early on. The partnership accelerated when Rory struck two impressive sixes over deep midwicket, helping move the score along quickly before he was eventually dismissed for a well-made 27 from 26 balls, leaving Maghera 68-1 after 9.3 overs.

Robin then joined Luke at the crease and the pair continued to build the innings positively. Luke went on to reach a fantastic 50 from 50 deliveries before retiring, becoming only the third player in club history to do so at this level. At that stage Maghera were well placed at 96-1 after 13.4 overs. A brief stumble late in the innings saw four wickets fall in quick succession, slowing the momentum slightly as Maghera closed on 106-5 from their allocated overs.

In reply, Killyclooney began aggressively with boundaries coming early, but Maghera responded well with disciplined bowling and energetic fielding. Rory and Sarah shared the new ball effectively, reducing the visitors to 56-3 after the opening six overs, with Sarah claiming two wickets and Rory adding another.

The match turned further in Maghera’s favour thanks to an excellent seven-over spell from Luke, Graham, and Danny. Bowling with impressive accuracy and control, the trio conceded just 24 runs while also taking two important wickets as Killyclooney struggled to maintain their early scoring rate. The final overs produced very few scoring opportunities, and Killyclooney finished on 92-8 from their 16 overs, securing a deserved victory for Maghera.

The fielding performance also played a major role in the result, with Rory, Luke, and Robin all taking important catches. Younger squad members Alyssa and Adam also contributed with several excellent stops in the field, helping maintain pressure throughout the innings.

Overall, it was a fantastic team performance from Maghera U15s, showing great composure, teamwork, and continued development across all areas of the game.
