Maghera 2nd XI produced an excellent all-round display on Sunday to claim a convincing six-wicket victory away to Eglinton.

Having elected to bowl first, Maghera were sharp from the outset and quickly established control. Abhimanyu Thayakkattil was the standout performer with the ball, bowling with impressive pace and rhythm to pick up two important wickets. Charlie Mainwaring and John Andrews also made valuable contributions, while Benji Cathcart and Ajay Krishnan delivered crucial spells towards the end of the innings, restricting Eglinton's scoring opportunities just as they looked to accelerate and ensuring the target remained well within reach.

In reply, Maghera's chase got off to a flying start as Muhammad Zeeshan and Benji Cathcart attacked from the very first ball. The pair raced past 50 inside six overs, immediately putting the hosts under pressure.

Muhammad was in outstanding form, bringing up a blistering half-century from just 33 deliveries, striking the ball with confidence and authority throughout his innings of 52. At the other end, Benji played the perfect supporting role, anchoring the chase superbly as he reached his own fifty from 40 balls. Their opening partnership of 82 all but sealed the contest in Maghera's favour.

Although Muhammad departed shortly after reaching his half-century, Jamie Reid maintained the momentum with a quick-fire contribution before Charlie Mainwaring and Graham Love calmly guided Maghera over the line, securing victory with eight overs to spare.

A disciplined bowling performance, an explosive opening partnership and a composed finish combined to cap off an excellent afternoon for the 2nd XI.
